How will the in-person 5K work?

13 time slots at 50 runners per time slot. The waves for each time slot will be 30 min. windows starting at 9:00AM.

If I’m already registered, how do I reserve my start time slot online?

Participants can add their desired start time slot by:
1. Logging into your Active.com account
2. Selecting - Rose Bowl 5K – listed under “My Events”
3. Choosing the “Purchase Merchandise” option
4. Selecting your start time, click “continue”, then click “complete”

How can I transfer my current registration to virtual?

Please email solutions@mccourtfoundation.com with your full registered name and registered email address, letting us know you want to switch from our in-person Rose Bowl 5K to our Virtual Rose Bowl 5K. Deadline to transfer your in-person registration to the virtual registration will be on December 18, 2021 at 11:59pm PST.

I’m already registered, but cannot participate in-person, can I defer my registration?

For runners who cannot complete in the in-person event, transfers to the virtual 5K are available.

What is the deadline to complete my race virtually?

You will have the option to run your 5K distance from January 1-31, 2021. The deadline to submit your time is Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 11:59pm PST.

How will I receive my packet, if I run virtually?

Packets will be mailed to all virtual participants before race weekend.

How does packet pickup work for in-person event?

Packet pick-up will be available at a drive-thru event Thursday, January 14 and Friday, January 15, 2021.

Rose Bowl Half Marathon FAQs

I’m already registered, but cannot participate on the new date. What are my options?

If you are unable to participate on the new date, you can defer your registration to another year (2022, 2023, or 2024) or complete the Rose Bowl Half Marathon virtually during the week of March 1-31, 2021

What do I need to do in order to defer my registration?

To defer your 2021 RBHM registration, you will need to fill out the deferment form sent via email and submit it before the deadline, December 18, 2021 at 11:59pm PST.

What’s the deadline to defer my registration for the following year?

A week out from event day, December 18, 2021 at 11:59pm PST.

What is the deadline to complete my race virtually?

You will have the option to run your half marathon distance from March 1 - 31, 2021. The deadline to submit your time is on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 11:59pm PST.

How will I receive my packet, if I run virtually?

Your packet will be mailed to you ahead of the race. Virtual runners will receive an email with mailing dates as they are confirmed.

Am I able to defer my Rose Bowl Half Marathon registration to another race? (upgrade to LAM, drop down to RB 5K, LA Big 5K or SMC)

No. (Since RBH registration fee is more than most of the other events and we don’t offer refunds. And they are separate events and accounts)

How do I reserve my start time slot online?

If the time slot racing format is implemented for the half marathon, participants will receive an email with instructions on time-slot assignments ahead of the race. Instructions will be emailed directly to participants when finalized.

Are you able to make accommodations if my start time slot is no longer available online?

Unfortunately, no. The strict 50-person capacity per time slot is being implemented to ensure the safety of our participants.

Where can I find a course map for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon?

The course map for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon will be finalized early 2021, pending approval from local city and health department officials. The 2021 course will likely be altered from previous years to allow for better distancing of participants. Please continue to check back for course updates.

On race day, what do I need to bring to registration check in?

Your QR code (emailed to you on race week from Active.com) and photo ID will be needed to verify your bib pick-up.

How do I complete the Conquer LA Challenge?

To qualify for the 2021 Conquer LA Challenge medal you need to complete the:

• 2020 Santa Monica Classic (Live or Virtual)
• 2021 Pasadena Half Marathon
• 2021 Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS

If you are already registered for one of the qualifying races, you can register for the remaining races individually using the same email address. When you pick up your bib at the marathon expo, it should have a sticker that says Conquer LA Challenge. If it does not, please visit the Solutions booth at the expo to verify your eligibility. This ensures you will receive the medal at the marathon finish line.

What is included with the registration fee?

Included in the registration fee is your race entry, participant shirt, finisher medal, access to the Rose Bowl field after you finish, post-race refreshments, live entertainment, access to the finish festival and one free craft beer for participants over 21 years of age.

When does race registration close?

Race registration is currently open. Registration will be available online until the race reaches capacity.

When and where do I pick up my event race bib?

This year we are offering remote packet pick up at convenient locations around Los Angeles.

Unless you purchase start line hospitality, all runners must pick up their own packet at one of these locations.

If I plan to bring my children to walk the course, do they also need to register?

Yes, anyone participating in the Rose Bowl Half Marathon or 5K needs to be registered and have a race bib. Strollers are allowed for the 5K ONLY. Children in strollers do not need to register for the event but they will not be able to collect a medal at the Finish Line. The Rose Bowl Half will abide by AWD Rules and can be read here.

Where is the event?

The Rose Bowl Half Marathon will begin at the Rose Bowl and make its way through Pasadena, passing every major landmark before finishing on the field of the world-famous Rose Bowl. The 5K will consist of a loop around the Rose Bowl with the same majestic finish as the half marathoners will experience.

What is the distance of the course?

We are offering two race distances for the weekend, a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 5K (3.1 miles).

What is the time limit for the course?

The time limit for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K is 4 hours. Participants still on the course at this time will be required to move to the sidewalks and obey all traffic signals. Participants who cross the finish line after 4:00:00 are not guaranteed to be recognized as Official Finishers and are not guaranteed a medal or finishing time.

Are there awards?

Yes, age group awards will be distributed by mail after the event is over and results are made official.

We will reward the top three men and women for both the 5K and the half marathon in the following age groups:
Under 15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over

Where do I wear my bib?

Bibs must be fastened to the front of your body on either your shirt or shorts/pants using the provided safety pins.

What do I do if I have an issue with my results?

If you are having trouble finding your results or your results are not posted, please reach out to results@spectrumtiming.com.

Where do I park on race day?

Parking information can be found on our Parking page.

Will the half marathon have pace leaders?

Yes. Pace leaders will be available on race morning courtesy of the LA Road Runners, the Official Training Program of the Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS. Two pace leaders will be available for each of the following projected finish times: 1:30, 1:40, 1:45, 1:50, 2:00, 2:15, 2:30, 2:45 and 3:00. The LA Road Runners pace leaders will be in bright green shirts that say ‘PACE LEADER’ on the back and they will carry flags which mark their projected finish time.

Will there be food/drinks available on the course? At the finish line?

Water will be available to 5K participants just prior to the Mile 2 marker. Water will be available to the half marathon participants at or near the following mile markers: Mile 2, Mile 3, Mile 4, Mile 6, Mile 8, Mile 9 and Mile 11. Nuun Hydration will be available at all half marathon water stations except for mile 2. See course map for more precise locations.

Are skates, bikes, or pets allowed on the course?

No skates, bikes or pets are allowed on the course.

What is your refund policy?

Race entry fees and ancillary purchases are non-refundable and non-transferable under any and all circumstances including the cancellation of the Event, a rescheduling of the Event to a different date, or the Event conducted at a shorter distance or as a virtual event.
