How long does the Official Training Program run?

Previously a 26-week training program, the training season this year will now run for 20 weeks and will begin with a month of self-conditioning in December with the official start on January 1st, 2020.

When will the official 20-week training season start?

The official 20-week Training Program will start on January 1st, 2020, and will run through to the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon on May 23rd, 2021.

Will the training season be held in person or virtually?

We are doing all we can to ensure the safety of our members, participants, volunteers and staff, and will initially be augmenting our classic 20-week training program to accommodate the shifting circumstances. We will start the 2021 season with online programs, Pace Leader forums, and training tools & resources, while planning for our in-person events to begin in early 2021.

Until we can run in small groups again, what does the online training look like?

As a LARR member, you will receive links to your private pace groups and will also be connected to your Pace Leader via email & Facebook. You will receive a password to access the members-only section of the LA Road Runners website, which will unlock exclusive content and training material from our team of coaches. A weekly Zoom call with our coaches will be scheduled every Friday night at 6pm PDT to discuss any questions you may have and chat about the week ahead. Attendance is optional.

Will there be Health & Safety Protocols for any future in-person events?

We have begun our planning to adopt a staged approach to allow for weekly, in-person, small-group runs and meet ups in 2021 following guidelines from the CDC and public health agencies. When is the LARR membership launch date?

LARR membership registration is currently open with a special $25 discount to returning members until December 31st (only available to tiers 2 & 3).

Is there a deadline to register for a LARR membership?

There is no deadline for LARR registration, though please note that the membership is only valid through to May 31st, 2021.

Are there more membership options this year?

Yes! We have additional membership options. Last year’s ‘Gold’ & ‘Silver’ membership plans have been combined to create what is now known as ‘Tier 2’. In addition, we now offer an introductory membership level, and a Philanthropic VIP membership level.

What is the difference between the 3 membership tiers?

Tier 1 is our introduction to the LARR community. Being a Tier 1 member, you will receive a LARR t-shirt, corral E placement, 20% off VIP hospitality, and access to the online training program & email updates. As a Tier 2 member, you will receive all of the Tier 1 benefits plus; a LARR training singlet, Corral B placement, access to the in person weekly pace leader led runs, and VIP locker room access at the Rose Bowl and Dodger Stadium for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon & Los Angeles Marathon. Tier 3 includes all of the Tier 2 benefits plus; a complimentary entry to the Los Angeles Marathon and Rose Bowl Half Marathon, Corral A placement, Los Angeles Marathon VIP finish line hospitality, discounts to TMF merchandise, invitation for you a friend/family member to access premium start line hospitality at a Dodger Stadium suite, and a premium merchandise item.

Where will the monthly meet ups be held?

Each Monthly Meet Up will be hosted at some of the most iconic locations in the Greater Los Angeles area. We will be announcing the details of the monthly meet ups in the coming weeks.

What are the monthly meet up dates?

The proposed monthly meet up dates will be announced in the coming weeks. We are currently planning Monthly Meet Ups once a month from January until May. Please note that we are and will continue to follow the recommendations from the CDC and LA County Department of Public Health, and will plan the dates of the Meet Ups accordingly.

Are the monthly meet ups open to the public?

Yes! We welcome everyone to the monthly meet ups, and encourage you to join the LARR community at a different iconic location in Los Angeles, once a month.

Where can I pick up my LARR shirt?

LARR Shirts will be available to pick up in person at any of our future in-person events. Alternatively, you have the option to have your shirt mailed.

Will LARR members get preferred corral placement for the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon?

Yes! Every LARR member will receive preferred corral placement. The corral will be determined by the type of membership held. Tier 1 members will receive Corral E placement, Tier 2 members will receive Corral B placement, and Tier 3 members will receive Corral A placement. Deadline for Corral Placement is January 19th, 2021.

Does my LARR membership include entry to the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon?

Tier 1 & 2 does NOT include entry to the Los Angeles Marathon. Tier 3 DOES include an entry to Conquer LA Challenge, which consists of the 2020 Santa Monica Classic 5K/10K Virtual Race, 2021 Rose Bowl Half Marathon and 2021 Los Angeles Marathon.

Is there a deadline on corral placement?

Yes. The corral deadline is January 19, 2021.

When will the training program get distributed?

As an LARR member, you will receive a link to download your Training Program in your registration confirmation email. For any non-LARR members, please visit https://www.lamarathon.com/pages/la-road-runners-training to receive email updates and download your copy of the official 2021 Los Angeles Marathon 26-Week Training Program used by the LA Road Runners.

Will there still be weekly training runs?

In a traditional training season, our LARR pace leaders lead weekly runs every Saturday morning for all LARR members with a tier 2 & tier 3 membership, beginning from 120 Ocean Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90402. We are following the recommendations from the CDC and LA County Department of Public Health, and are planning to start our weekly in-person runs in early 2021.

Are there any discounts for LARR memberships?

First responders and active military members receive a 15% discount on all LARR membership tiers. Email registration@mccourtfoundation.org for discount code. For the 2020-2021 LARR season, returning LARR members are eligible for a $25 discount on a Tier 2 or 3 membership through December 31st, 2020.

As a member of an affiliate club, how do I claim my affiliate club benefits?

Each affiliate club has received a personalized club code to distribute among members. Please contact your club leader for code, and provide the code when registering for the 2021 Los Angeles Marathon which will in turn activate affiliate club benefits. Valid only through to January 19th.

Are any of the LARR memberships tax deductible?

There is a tax deductible contribution for Tiers 2 & 3, minus the value of benefits received.

Is a LARR membership refundable?

There are no refunds, transfers, or deferrals for a LA Road Runners membership for any reason including an event cancellation, an event conducted at a shorter distance or as a virtual event, or the event being rescheduled.
